Posture Police

I'm probably breaking some sort of blog etiquette talking about potties, but I'm just going to do it. So there. I mean really, it's something most of us have dealt with - you're doing your business and lean just a liiitle too far forward and whoosh! Niagra falls is under my hiney and I am NOT a fan.

Sometimes I just need a moment during my day. Just a minute to be by myself - to be away from my phone, away from my computer, away from the chit chat and the drama. Why, in this moment of escape, must I maintain good posture?!

Sigh.

Accidental Overachiever: 13x13x13 - 5

I had some company for this fifth half marathon of the year. My super-tough CrossFitting friend practically drove across the state of Texas before the crack of dawn to join me just for fun, so naturally I had to impress her and overdo it.

This is clearly before I figured out how far we would run.
Now, the original plan was to run 13 miles 13 times in 2013, but this run ended up being a little bit longer at 14.5 miles. Disclaimer: this includes the trip to the corner store and back home to get Gatorade; it was on foot, so I'm counting it!

In the past few weeks, I have been advised to push myself past the half marathon distance to make them seem more manageable, and I'd thought about doing this. The fact that I did it was entirely accidental and mostly regrettable. This adventure was the result of a mapping software malfunction - okay, it might have been user error - and detours due to some sort of helicopter training.

Apparently it's not safe to run past
landing helicopters.
I used a lot of the same streets and trails as my last "on my own" half in town. It's pretty, but I think I'm ready for some routes not involving running around Rice University several times. Although we ran further than usual, I still noted my 13.1 time which was 2:47:24. Not my best time and not my worst time (story of my life!)

Tiffany and I - running (later hobbling) partners in crime.

I climbed in the cold pool again after the run. It's still amazing.
